Author Requirements (Summary Version)
This document outlines the mandatory requirements for manuscripts submitted to Thai National Interest (TNI). Compliance with these requirements is necessary for desk screening and peer review.
- 1. Scope and Editorial Principle
TNI publishes analytically rigorous, policy-relevant research in political economy, international relations, and related fields. Submissions are evaluated on substantive contribution and analytical clarity rather than stylistic conformity.
- 2. Citations and References (Required)
- All sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
- An author–date citation system consistent with APA 7th edition principles must be used.
- Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of references.
- Plagiarism or inadequate attribution is grounds for desk rejection.
Multiple works by the same author(s) in the same year must be distinguished using alphabetical suffixes (a, b, c).
- 3. Tables, Figures, and Diagrams
TNI accepts a wide range of tables, figures, and diagrams. The journal does not prescribe specific visual templates or chart types.
Visual materials are evaluated based on analytical function, clarity, and suitability for academic publication.
General Requirements
All tables, figures, and diagrams must:
- Serve a clear analytical purpose;
- Be interpretable on their own;
- Remain legible at journal print scale;
- Be explicitly referenced and explained in the text;
- Follow academic—not presentation or promotional—design logic.
Materials that do not meet these requirements may be returned for revision prior to peer review.
Figures (Charts and Graphs)
Figures may take any appropriate form (e.g., line, bar, scatter, radar), provided that:
- Labels, scales, and legends are clear;
- The figure supports analytical argumentation.
Illustrative examples (e.g., comparative radar charts) are illustrative only and do not prescribe required formats.
Tables
Tables should be used for structured data or systematic comparisons and must:
- Use clear row and column headings;
- Avoid excessive formatting or decorative design;
- Include notes and sources where necessary.
Diagrams and Conceptual Frameworks
Diagrams should present conceptual relationships or analytical logic and must:
- Emphasize analytical structure rather than illustration;
- Clearly indicate relationships or hierarchy;
- Avoid slide-style layouts or decorative graphics.
- 4. Captions and Referencing of Visual Materials
All tables and figures must include captions placed below the visual element. Captions should provide:
- A concise descriptive title;
- Explanatory notes where relevant;
- A clear source statement.
Final typographic and stylistic adjustments are handled by the editorial office.
- 5. Editorial Discretion
The editorial office reserves the right to request revisions to references, tables, figures, or diagrams at any stage of review or copyediting to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with journal standards.
- 6. Final Note to Authors
These requirements are intended to facilitate efficient review and publication. Authors are encouraged to focus on analytical contribution and clarity of argument while adhering to these mandatory standards.
